InstaPilot ("we", "us", or "our") operates the InstaPilot Chrome extension and the website at insta-pilot.vercel.app. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you use our extension and related services.
Information we collect
Depending on how you use InstaPilot, we may collect:
- Account information — If you create an account through the extension, we collect your email address and authentication credentials managed by Firebase Authentication.
- Subscription information — If you purchase Premium, we store your user ID, plan type, and subscription status. Payment processing is handled by PayPal; we do not store your full payment card details.
- Local extension data — The extension stores items such as login tokens, premium status, and UI preferences locally in your browser using Chrome's
storageAPI. This data stays on your device unless you sign in or subscribe. - Instagram page data — When you use playback controls or download a video, the extension reads video elements and related URLs on Instagram pages you visit. Video downloads are initiated locally in your browser; we do not upload your Instagram content to our servers.
How we use information
We use the information described above to:
- Provide and maintain InstaPilot features
- Authenticate your account and manage Premium subscriptions
- Process payments and confirm subscription status
- Improve reliability and fix issues
- Respond to support requests
Third-party services
InstaPilot relies on the following third parties:
- Firebase (Google) — user authentication and account data storage
- PayPal — payment processing for Premium subscriptions
- Instagram / Meta — the extension runs on Instagram pages you visit; we do not control Instagram's own data practices
- Vercel — hosting for our website and API
Each third party has its own privacy policy governing how they handle data.
Data sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with service providers needed to operate InstaPilot (such as Firebase and PayPal), when required by law, or to protect our rights and users.
Data retention
Account and subscription records are kept for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services and comply with legal obligations. Local extension data remains in your browser until you sign out, uninstall the extension, or clear extension storage.
Your choices
- You can use many InstaPilot features without creating an account.
- You can sign out of the extension at any time to remove locally stored auth data.
- You can uninstall the extension to remove locally stored data.
- To request account deletion or data access, contact us using the email below.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information transmitted to our services. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
Children's privacy
InstaPilot is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page when changes are posted.
